Howdy Porter County!! Let's protect our local environment by properly disposing of our Household Hazardous Waste at our next collection event on Saturday, August 9th, 2025 from 9am-2pm at Neighbors' Educational Opportunities Building in Portage. Please enter at Wilshire Drive. Proper disposal of hazardous waste is crucial to protecting public health and preserving the environment. Hazardous waste often includes materials that are flammable, corrosive, reactive, or toxic. Examples include cleaning supplies, oils, chemicals, and fertilizers, which can pose significant risks if not handled correctly. This collection will also include paper shredding through Secure Shred! So be sure to bring your old documents and papers to dispose of safely. It's important not to dispose of these items in regular trash bins or down drains, as they can contaminate water sources and harm wildlife. Porter County Residents are welcome to come to our FREE collection events to dispose of your hazardous waste. Check out portercountyrecycling.org to find the full list of accepted items.
