Oral History Interviewing Workshop
Wednesday, April 23, 2025 (1:00 PM - 2:30 PM) (CDT)
Description
Westchester Public Library is hosting a 6-week Oral History Interviewing workshop series featuring writer, producer, and artist, Sam Love. The series will take place at the Hageman Branch on Wednesdays from April 23 through May 28, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. In an era dominated by digital media, many personal and community stories remain untold or overlooked. Oral history interviewing offers a powerful way to capture and preserve these narratives for future generations. This workshop series will guide participants through the fundamentals of starting their own oral history project, including topic selection, identifying interview subjects, conducting effective interviews, post-production techniques, and archiving best practices. Attendees will also explore how oral history applies to various fields such as local history, genealogy, family history, and storytelling. This program is for adults ages 18 and up. Registration for this 6-week series opens April 16. Interested participants can register online at wpl.lib.in.us or call 219-926-9080 to reserve a spot.
