Core Responsibilities

The Program Director's responsibilities include directing educational programs and activities in accordance with the mission, strategic direction, and goals of Art Barn School of Art (ABSA).

  • Program & Strategy:
  • Develop and monitor the overall Education budget, as well as budgets and plans for ABSA programs.
  • Collaborate with board/committee members to implement programming goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of educational programs and related exhibits, including budgeting, strategy, and developing and stewarding community partnerships.
  • Ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Staff & Contractor Management:
  • Oversee contracts, training, and supervision of ABSA instructors, educational contractors, and education volunteers.
  • Manage teaching contractors.
  • Communication & Operations:
  • Cultivate and steward community relationships that align with and improve ABSA’s strategic direction.
  • Coordinate all Art Barn activities with the office staff to avoid space use conflicts.
  • Develop and communicate class/workshop information for marketing and registration, and maintain accuracy of the booking platform.
  • Produce accurate and timely reporting of program metrics.
  • Communicates with students as needed regarding class schedules, cancellations supplies & general inquiries.
  • Develop and distribute evaluations to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Handle inquiries, student/parent communications about bookings.
  • Assists staff, board, and committee members as requested.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in art education, teaching, curriculum development or related field.
  • Proven experience with managing art education programs. 
  • Proven management, organization and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in computer applications such as Google Docs/Sheets or Word/ Excel, Wix Website editor.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for events and program-related activities.
