FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
EBB & FLOW YOGA & WELLNESS SUITE OPENS IN CHESTERTON
A STUDIO FOR MOVEMENT & MUSIC IN 2025
Ebb & Flow Yoga Studio
Chesterton, Indiana - Ebb & Flow Yoga & Wellness Suite, a studio that looks to merge the healing effects of music and movement, opens its doors to a full schedule of uplifting and nurturing yoga classes and sound events beginning February 3,2025.
The studio aims to provide a place where everyone feels safe, regardless of age, size, gender or identity, is a cornerstone to the studio’s belief system. A welcoming and accessible space for anyone seeking movement, music, connection, and community, founder, Gina Laureys shares, “We offer a come as you are mentality. To be vulnerable and real. I teach in sweatpants and band t-shirts most weeks. I can’t do all of the fancy poses perfectly. This is not Instagram yoga.”
After recovering from back pain and emotional life challenges, Gina began teaching a weekly class in Chesterton in May of 2023. “Before yoga, music was always my outlet. When I realized yoga could ground me the way music does, I wanted to incorporate music into my classes.” Carefully curated playlists and live music have become the hallmark of Gina’s classes. She’s often accompanied by studio co-founder, Jim Senderhauf.
A seasoned musician, Jim discovered yoga during Covid while seeking a meditation class to quiet his restless mind. He shares, “Yoga meets you right where you are – right now. I found that I wasn’t alone. The yoga classes I attended were filled with people like me working through things, and trying to carve out a little corner of calm in a world where we often have little to no control.”
Students can find comfort in knowing there is a place for every person in the space, regardless of where they may be on their journey. Class offerings include yoga for strength & vitality, restorative and beginner classes as well as a free class designed specifically to meet the young adult community addressing anxiety and depression.
“As several studios moved out of the community, we saw the need arise to create a space where people could come to not only find themselves but find others as well,” shares Jim. “This is real life people, in all shapes and forms, finding ourselves stronger and calmer together,” adds co-founder Katie Siminski.
Accessibility has always been an important issue for Siminski, “I’m interested in making yoga accessible to more people. Studios make things so expensive. Not everyone can afford it. Finding a way to reach more people and give back makes life seem just a little bit brighter.” The studio looks to maintain budget friendly classes in this time of rising costs. Something that drives its founders to provide more donation based and free classes.
The studio also looks to reach the community with sound events bringing the energy of live music to the mat through yoga nidra and yin, as well as art and yoga camps and weekly workshops covering the benefits of the chakra system, among others. The studio looks forward to future retreats, and is currently developing a retreat along the Oregon coastline tentatively set for fall 2025.
Co-founder and local artist and instructor, Christina Vagenius, shares “I am encouraged to be part of a studio that believes in bringing yoga to the community on and off the mat, reaching hearts and minds through music, movement and connection. It’s all art to me. Creating spaces for the heart to show up. To be seen and heard and felt. To find that flow state where we can put our wounds down and find the wonder within us. We live such fast lives these days. We are losing the ability to realign our hearts and calm our nervous systems. Movement and music can slow us down so we can hear ourselves. We can heal together. It’s the heart of connection.”
When asked how she came up with the name of the studio, founder, Gina Laureys replied, “Ebb & Flow represents what life is. The ups and downs, the good and bad – we all go through it. And I wanted to create a space for anyone, who at any point during those ebbs and flows in their life journey, needs a place to feel safe. A place to come home to.”
With each founder bringing their own unique perspective and experience to their classes, the studio will offer classes seven days a week, as well as provide a space for wellness services such as reiki, cranial sacral, myo-facial and massage by appointment in their wellness suite, currently available for rent.
