Valparaiso, IN – June 1, 2025 – United Way Northwest Indiana proudly accepted a $7,500 contribution from the Everwise Foundation in support of Level Up, a transformative initiative designed to guide Northwest Indiana residents on a path toward lasting financial stability and upward mobility. This investment is a commitment to people, progress, and the power of partnership.

Level Up provides personalized, one-on-one support that connects individuals with financial counseling, employment coaching, and essential local resources. The program meets ALICE individuals where they are and walks alongside them to where they want to be—financially and personally. With support from the Everwise Foundation, United Way will be able to reach more residents, expand the program’s impact, and continue building a network of support that creates real, measurable change across the region.

“Everwise Foundation’s investment is a testament to what it means to build stronger communities—together,” said Ben Cipra, Grant Manager at United Way Northwest Indiana. “This funding provides critical support for the continued growth of the Level Up program.” The Level Up program is specifically designed to support ALICE families, those who are working hard but still struggling to make ends meet. These individuals often earn too much to qualify for traditional assistance, yet not enough to achieve financial stability.

“Financial empowerment is at the heart of what we do in Level Up,” said Heather Szakacs, Financial Counselor. “This donation helps us continue walking alongside our clients as they build confidence, gain control of their finances, and work toward a more stable future. That support can be the difference between surviving and thriving.”

Chiquita Scott-Yancey, Level Up Navigator, sees this transformation every day: “Many of the individuals we serve come to us feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or stuck. Through the Level Up program, they graduate with a plan, a purpose, and renewed hope.”
