Michigan City, Indiana – The Horizon Bank Scholarship Program awarded ten $1,000 scholarships to students through the Urban League of Northwest Indiana.

Recipients of the Horizon Bank Scholarships included: Samantha Bunag, DezAraya Walton, Faith Spain, Kolin Gladney, Emilio Munoz, Dominic Burns, Christina Gutierrez, Kandice Holman, Jada Barrow, and James Graham III.

“Supporting the aspirations of these outstanding students is an investment in the future of our communities,” said Steve Kring, Regional President – Northwest Indiana. “We’re proud to partner with the Urban League of Northwest Indiana to provide opportunities that help open doors and encourage academic achievement, leadership, and long-term success.”

Horizon developed this Scholarship Program to encourage minority students to pursue higher education. The scholarships awarded were based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and potential. The application process was administered through a partnership with the Urban League of NWI Inc., along with community leaders who chose the recipients based upon scoring of set criteria.
