Week with Free Loading of Compost and Mulch
Valparaiso, IN – Join us in celebrating International Compost Awareness Week from May 5th
to May 10th, 2025, with free loading of compost and mulch at the Valparaiso and Portage
Compost Sites. This annual event is a fantastic opportunity for Porter County residents to enrich
their gardens and landscapes while contributing to a more sustainable environment.
Free Loading Dates + Times (May 5 th -10 th of 2025):
Valparaiso Compost Site (2150 W Lincolnway, Valparaiso, IN 46385):
o Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM & 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
Portage Compost Site (6451 U.S. Highway 12, Portage, IN 46368):
o Monday to Friday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
o Saturday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
*limit 9 cubic yards per day* NO CONTRACTORS!
This event is a perfect way to celebrate the benefits of composting, which include reducing
waste, conserving water, and enhancing soil health. By participating, you are not only improving
your garden but also supporting a greener and more sustainable community.
After May 10 th , 2025 Loading Schedule:
Portage Compost Site: loading will be available by appointment only.
Please call (219) 762-4564 to schedule the loading.
Valparaiso Compost Site: loading will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from
9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Loading is $10 per cubic yard. Business checks or money orders should be made payable
to the City of Valparaiso.
